Best Jane Eyre Yet! Aug 19, 2008 This adaption of the book is (nearly) perfect. A few liberties were taken that I didn't agree with (especially in the ending), but all in all this is a fantastic adaption and I adored it. The leads were chosen perfectly. Ruth Wilson is perfect - her portrayal of Jane is absolutely spot on. Toby Stephens is all anyone could ask for in a Mr. Rochester. I was absolutely swept away, I am not ashamed to admit. Although he is certainly not "ugly" or "hideous", there is something about him that kind of evokes Rochester... he was perfect. And the chemistry is insane. I've never experienced the story so full of passion and emotion, although I've read the book three times, and I just love how the characters are brought to life.
Other than the above-mentioned liberties taken with details in the story line, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this adaption. It is amazing. Enough said.

Jane Eyre came to life--FANTASTIC ACTING!! Aug 14, 2008 This is the best adaptation of Jane Eyre I have ever seen. I have watched this at least 5 times and never tire of it. The actors every one of them are superb and Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson light up the screen with thier undying love for each other while they both struggle with thier inner demons as such. Ruth is great as Jane in every sense of the word and Toby Stephens although too good looking plays Mr. Rochester in a way as to believe his inner tomrment only gone after Jane brings him back to life as such to the real meaning of love. The music was fantastic, the cast fantastic, the acting superb, the locations realistic and harsh and cold and eery, and the costumes, hair and makeup and mannerisms of this period--PERFECT. I have recommnended this to evryone I know and they have all loved it................My favorite!! Charlotte Brontes novel is brought to life in the way it was meant to be and was written.-----------

Outstanding! Aug 12, 2008 When I saw the Timothy Dalton version of Jane Eyre, I thought, Well, that was good. I liked it. And when I heard that a new version would be playing on TV, I thought it might be interesting to watch.
I was blown away. I can't find anything wrong with this version of Jane Eyre, and although there have been complaints that Toby Stephens is too good looking to be Rochester... honestly, people... what's wrong with that? ;D.
Ruth Wilson is perfect as Jane, and Toby is perfect as Rochester. Their chemistry is also perfect.
I don't have one bad thing to say about it, I really don't.

Outstanding! Aug 11, 2008 I love period romances and this is going right in my top 5 of all time. This is an amazing story, told and acted so well. The chemistry between Jane and Edward is so thick you could cut it with a knife. I would reccomend this film to anyone who loves romance or just plain loves a good story. Brilliant acting, wonderful scenery and so well written! I know that Jane is suppose to be plain but I found Ruth Wilson to be beautiful, understated of course like a Mourning dove. Edward was not suppose to be as attractive as Toby Stephens but they didn't make him overly dashing. He adds a smoldering passion and sexuality to the part that makes the story even more swoon-worthy. 4 stars, baby!!!
Cheers!

Call me shallow Aug 06, 2008 Jane Eyre (Masterpiece Theatre, 2006)
Call me shallow, but I enjoyed immensely this sexy, passionate new adaptation of the book I love. Pretty tired of reserved and cold Janes. There is no real love without sexual attraction and I enjoyed every minute of this passionate story.
