Last of the Breed Jun 02, 2008 Willie Nelson - Last of the Breed
When I received this DVD I was unable to play it on my reasonably new DVD player. Made some enquiries and purchased a new DVD player that coped with all area codes. After playing Last of the Breed I don't think I have heard a better presentation to date. All of the artists were great and I have ordered another DVD of one of the artists, namely Asleep at the Wheel.Had friends over last night who were absolutely rapped with the Last of the Breed. Thoroughly recommend to any country music lover.

Almost perfect... Mar 18, 2008 Merle and Ray are awesome. Couldn't sound better. In fact, same as always...GREAT! Willie disappointed me a little bit. Does not sound like he used to on Red Headed Stranger or his 4th of July picnics of the early to mid 70's. I guess singing so many different genre's with all the great ones from BB King to Julio Iglesias got him out of whack somewhat. It's still a great DVD! My favorite here is Merle, Are The Good Times Really Over (I Wish A Buck Was Still Silver). This song alone is worth 5 stars. But I gave it 4 because of Willie.
Last of the Breed DVD review Mar 11, 2008 The audio and video are both very good for a live performance. The 16:9 format is a plus for me. Willie, Merle and Ray perform some of their best and sound good doing it. Ray Benson and his band are western swing at it's best (a little Bob Wills sound). Look carefully and you will see a modern pedal steel guitar as well as a "Sho-bud" early pedal steel next to a quad neck early Fender non pedal steel. This was an added treat for me since I am interested in steel guitar history. The interview, as an added bonus, is very interesting since they talk about some of the famous song writers, early times in the business and some funny events. The audio is not very good during the interview, but the content makes it worth listening to. This DVD is for a classic country music fan to have and enjoy. Buy it.....you will like it!

Last of the Breed Feb 23, 2008 If you enjoy some of the older c/w music, this is your cup of tea. Ray Price at 81 still has a wonderful voice. Willy Nelson at 75 still hasn't lost any of his skill and Merle Haggard sings many of his famous toons. One of the best I've heard and I'm not normally a c/w fan.
Great Jan 13, 2008 Willie Nelson - Last of the Breed
Great show, very original, and coming from the heart, makes me forgive Merle haggard for his defamation of us Hippies from the San francisco bay.
